Imagine you're one of those tourists who picked up a piece of this one of a kind art without knowing just how special it is.

This man should be contracted by the government to teach the practice at universities to keep the art alive.

Taking their art to sell online could save the business and art—and I agree heartily, they should be charging much more for art that is so rare and so time consuming, and so intricate. The British devalued Indian art. It’s time to take that back.

Its a shame how post british era completely ruined the textile, art, culture and so many other things in India. We were so focused on industrialisation that whats left is not even the crumbs. I hope more institutions try to preserve such culture.

I would pay $1000 for one of the more intricate wall hangings! This art really is impressive. I’m glad there are people who will work to preserve it!

Eight generations and I’m only just hearing about this? It’s stunning work. I hope they last through Covid and are able to expand again. I’d love one of their face masks.

When I went for my college study tour to Bhuj(Gujarat), we visited this place where Khatri sir and family create the piece of art. There's so much of hardword behind those intricate designs. A big thanks to Insider for giving such artisans an opportunity. ❤️❤️

Even though it is not that profitable,, he dedicated his time and life to this art. Now that's what I called a true artist. You can't price someone's art that he had used his emotions to paint every small details of his work.

In the 60s in Karachi’s Elphinstone Street, as it was known then, there used to be a practitioner of this beautiful art form . He had a tiny little shop open to the pavement. Apart from people actually ordering pieces from him, many would stop to just watch this amazing artist create something the like of which most of us knew nothing about. With my pocket money I ordered a hanky with my initial in the corner, surrounded with flowers.Sadly, one day he was gone. No one knew what became of him or if he taught his wonderful art to anyone else. So heartbreaking, an unusual and unique talent lost forever.

It's not that easy to do what he is doing while watching everyone go leaps and bounds with industrialization

Damn, the detail on this craft is crazy. This is worth more than hundreds with the amount of work and 400 years worth of tradition put into the work.
